Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits most of which were based in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in love with Colorado and then settled in Aspen. Denver's state anthems have inspired numerous people to go to Colorado. I can't think of any other performer who embodies Colorado such as John Denver said G. Brown curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Denver was the very first Hall of Fame inductee in the year 2011. Denver is today Colorado's international image. If you travel with me, you may meet people at opposite sides of the globe. Like, for instance, an individual who is from New Zealand. And when you tell them you're Colorado-based, Colorado the response is "Oh John Denver!" Brown declared. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short period of performing with small folk groups comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff. Danoff initially wrote the song using Johnny Cash's songs with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver realized from the first moment he listened to the early versions that the song could be a huge hit. The song was recorded a couple of days after playing on stage in Washington D.C. before an crowd that was extremely enthusiastic.
